This is a subtitle for your new post

There is nothing better than a warm plate of tikka masala. It is one of Britain's many different comfort foods that can brighten up a rainy day.

Indian and Pakistani cuisine have become favourites for British families all over. While curry has made its way all around the globe, tikka masala is somewhat more obscure. Although it does have Indian and Pakistani roots, you may be surprised to hear that it originated a little closer to home.

The Delicious Dish That Is Tikka Masala

Tikka masala is a wonderful savoury dish that has bits of chicken that are first marinated in a thick slurry with yoghurt, lemon juice and a variety of Indian spices. After marinating, the meat is put on skewers then placed inside a tandoori oven to cook. It is traditionally prepared in India for special occasions.

Tikka masala has now evolved into Great Britain's national dish. It is a celebrated fusion dish that has been used to symbolize multicultural Britain. Tikka masala has been awarded the unofficial title of "Britain's favourite curry," and it seems to hold a special place in many Brits' hearts. It is also always on the menu in any Indian restaurant in the country.

The Origin Of Tikka Masala

There is still a massive debate as to where tikka masala originated from.

Some people say that it started with a bus driver who visited an Indian restaurant and ordered a curry. Later on, he sent it back to the kitchen, complaining that it was dry. The only other pot in the kitchen was allegedly a pot of tomato soup. The chef added some of the soup to the bus driver's curry and enhanced the taste with some spices. The bus driver loved the result, and that is how British tikka masala was made, or that is one version of the story at least.

Up to this very day, no one story can account for how tikka masala in Britain came to be. However, the most likely story is that tikka masala originated from North India and then was served in Indian restaurants in and around the British Isles.

Indian tikka masala may be regarded as a whole other dish than the tikka masala served in Britain. The westernized version has a milder flavour and aroma, and the spices used in it have been toned down to fit the British flavour palate.

Conclusion

No matter what the origin of tikka masala may be, there is no denying that it is delicious. You can choose to prepare this dish in your home if you'd like. Almost every family has a recipe that has been passed down for generations. However, if you want to skip washing pots and pans, getting a takeaway bag of tikka masala may be the best way to go.

Tikka masala is a dish that represents Britain so well. It is a beautiful fusion of flavours, just like how the country is a melting pot of different cultures.
