4 Dishes You Have to Order at an Indian Restaurant

This is a subtitle for your new post

Indian food is one of the best cuisines in the world. Surprisingly, very few cuisines come close when it comes to their ability to deliver a wide range of flavours. Luckily, London is a great place to indulge in such delicacies as Indian food in London is among the best in the world!

With that being said, it can be quite intimidating ordering food in an Indian restaurant. This is especially true if it’s your first time eating there and you have no clue just where to start and what to order. You might not even have any idea of the taste you’ll be expecting once the food arrives. To help you get started, we’ve put together a list of four dishes that you definitely want to try the next time you go to an Indian restaurant:

1. Naan

Naan is a staple of Indian cuisine; no meal is complete without naan. But what exactly is this dish? Well, naan is a leavened bread made from maida, an Indian white flour that shares similar properties to pastry flour. All main courses in Indian cuisine are eaten with naan.

One tip we can give you when ordering this dish is that you should definitely take advantage of its ability to soak up sauces. Sauces are incredibly important in Indian cuisine, and this is why you’ll want to sop up all the sauce from the dishes using the naan.

2. Samosas

Samosas are your go-to appetisers. They are deep-fried pastries with flavourful fillings, and the fillings can either be vegetarian or non-vegetarian. Vegetarian samosa is usually made with potatoes, peas, and a slew of different spices. The non-vegetarian version, on the other hand, makes use of similar spices but with ground chicken or lamb incorporated in it.

If you’re a fan of Chinese food, then you’ve probably noticed that samosas look a little like dumplings. And while they may look the same, samosas are considerably thicker than your regular dumplings.

3. Chicken Makhani

Indian cuisine is known for its heavy use of spice and heat. However, this can turn some people off, as not everyone is used to food that is spicy. If you can’t handle too much heat, then you’ll be glad to know that there is still a dish that you can enjoy. Chicken Makhani or Butter Chicken is a crowd favourite. This is a great main dish to start with, especially if you aren’t used to eating spicy food. Despite the lack of heat, Chicken Makhani is a rich dish that can serve as a good entry point to Indian cuisine.

4. Chicken Tikka Mussala

Speaking of chicken dishes, we can’t have a list of quintessential Indian dishes without talking about Chicken Tikka Mussala. Chicken Tikka Mussala is the United Kingdom’s national dish for a reason. It consists of roasted marinated chicken covered in a spiced curry sauce. Despite the sauce being tomato and cream-based, this dish can be on the spicy side. If you have a problem with spicy food, just be sure to ask the waiter before you order this dish!

Conclusion

We hope this list proves to be useful when it comes to helping you pick out dishes the next time you’re at an Indian restaurant. Don’t let this list limit your choices but instead use it as a jumping-off point, as you can hardly go wrong when it comes to Indian food!
